There’s just something about a cute, slightly chaotic craft project that makes it impossible to resist… and these Root Pack plushies are exactly that 😂🥕🧅🥔
I finally finished mine, and I’m honestly obsessed with how much personality they have. Each one has its own little attitude, which makes them so fun to create (and even harder to give away).
If you love sewing projects, handmade gifts, or anything a little quirky—this one is for you.
Why I Love This Project

This isn’t your typical “perfect” craft and that’s what makes it so fun.
These plushies are:
• Beginner-friendly (with basic sewing skills)
• Great for scrap fabric
• Perfect for gifts or selling
• Full of personality
And let’s be honest… the faces are everything 😅
Materials You’ll Need
Here are the basics to get started (you can link these to your Amazon storefront 👇):
• Soft fleece fabric (brown, orange, cream/white, green)
• Polyester stuffing
• Fabric scissors
• Needle & thread (or sewing machine)
• Fabric markers or embroidery thread (for faces)
• Pins or clips
• Optional: Heat transfer vinyl (HTV) + Cricut for faces
✨ Tip: Fleece works best because it’s soft, forgiving, and easy to shape.
How to Make Them (Simple Overview)
1. Cut Your Shapes
Each veggie has a simple rounded body shape:
• Potato: oval
• Carrot: tapered/rounded
• Onion: wider bottom, slightly pointed top
Cut 2 pieces per plush.
2. Sew the Body
Place fabric right sides together and sew around the edges, leaving a small opening.
Turn right side out.
3. Stuff It
Fill with polyester stuffing until soft but full.
Don’t overstuff you want them slightly squishy.
4. Close the Opening
Hand stitch the opening closed with a ladder stitch for a clean look.
5. Add the Faces
This is where they come to life 😍
You can:
• Draw with fabric markers
• Embroider details
• Use Cricut HTV for clean, bold designs
Each one has its own expression don’t overthink it, the funnier the better!
6. Add the “Roots” (Green Tops)
Cut small stem shapes from green fabric, lightly stuff if desired, and sew or attach to the top.
Tips for the Best Results
• Keep shapes slightly imperfect it adds character
• Use bold outlines for the faces
• Mix embroidery + marker for depth
• Make a set they look cutest together
