Neutral Pumpkin Stack

I love fall, but I don’t love bright orange plastic taking over my bright, coastal home. This year I wanted something elegant, cozy, and completely neutral creamy white, warm beige, and soft taupe velvet pumpkins topped with a simple black witch hat. 🧙

No stems, no gaps, no crooked bows. Just a clean, upscale stack that works from September straight through Halloween.

Here is exactly how I built it.

What You’ll Need (My Amazon Idea List: Coastal Neutral Velvet Pumpkin Stack with Black Witch Hat & Burlap Bow)

• 3 Stemless Velvet Pumpkins – 1 large in creamy white, 1 medium in warm beige, 1 small in soft taupe. Look for matte velvet texture.

• 1 Black Felt Witch Hat – Tall pointed style with a wide brim. Felt, not shiny costume plastic.

• Natural Burlap Ribbon – 2.5 inch wide, natural / beige. I prefer wired for shaping.

• Neutral Foliage: Cream white berry stems, dried beige eucalyptus stems, and a few wheat stalks.

• Small scissors

All of the exact items I used are linked on my Amazon Idea List.

How To Make It – Step by Step

1. Stack – No Stems

I removed the brown woody stems for a seamless velvet look. Stack largest to smallest on a light natural oak console or entry table. No glue needed the velvet grips nicely. Of superglue together!

2. Place the Hat Flat & Flush

This is the key detail. Don’t perch it set the witch hat brim completely flat and flush directly on top of the top taupe pumpkin. Center it so it sits level with no gap and no tilt. The point stays tall and upright.

3. Tie the Bow Dead-Center

Wrap the natural burlap ribbon around the base of the hat where the crown meets the brim. Tie a soft, slightly rumpled bow perfectly centered in the front. Trim the tails at an angle so they fray just a bit.

4. Tuck Foliage Evenly

Tuck small bunches of cream berries, eucalyptus, and wheat under the bow on both sides. Keep it balanced left and right for that symmetrical, curated look you see in the photo.

5. Final Fluff

Step back, fluff the bow loops, and make sure the brim is still flat against the pumpkin. That’s it!

Styling Tips for a Bright Coastal Home

• Keep your background light white shiplap, soft beige linen, and natural wood lets the neutrals pop.

• Add a woven basket and a vase with dried pampas nearby for texture.

• This stack is perfect for an entry table, fireplace mantel, or dining room sideboard.

• Natural daylight is your friend it shows off the velvet texture.
